There were few surprizes in the preliminary round. Partizan Belgrade lost badly to the Lithuanian side Širvinta (Jovanović blundered Rook in 1) and failed to reach the final zone. As the quarterfinal brought one unexpected result (Wuppertal beat Rybnik) the semifinal stage saw four drawn matches, with board count deciding in each case. The final match between AEM Luxtem and Kyiv School was convincingly won by the Romanian side. The host team lost bronze medals in favour of BAS Belgrade. Corina Peptan scored 6/6, the only 100% result. |
