Tournament review

The Polish Chess Federation decided to return to the round robin system. Top 12 teams from 1991 Swiss championship earned entry pass; Kolejarz Katowice did not arrive. Top 8 teams stayed in championship division, teams ranked 9th-10th had to play-off agains runners-up from second league and the bottom side were relegated.

Polonia, Miedź, Stilon and Hetman were considered strongest teams. BBTS took surprise bronze. Both Polonia and Miedź took eight match wins in a row only to meet on day 10. Unexpectidely, Miedź won 3½-2½ (Gleizerov-Wojtkiewicz ½-½, Sapis-Gdański 0-1, Typek-Pańczyk 1-0, Łukasiewicz-Macieja 0-1, Janocha-Kujawski 1-0, Baginskaite-Brustman 1-0) to seal the tournament win and get their only championship up to date.
