World Student Team Chess Championship

What is missing?

An unsolved issue is a question of board prizes. We have assumed only board winners are noted (no silver and bronze medals) and that there were no separate competitions in case more than one final group was scheduled. Šajtar's book do not give clear indication about this. In come cases probably prizes were awarded separately for final A and final B. Also, there is no rule for minimum number of games necessary to be eligible to get the prize.

Other issues commonly missing: beauty prizes (available only in some cases), time limits (2.5h/40 moves was a standard those years but this hasn't been confirmed), players' first names (Šajtar didn't mark first names in his book or at most noted initials. Many obscure players particularly from late 1950s have their first names missing.)

Mexico City 1977

  • Games need to be retyped from the bulletin! OlimpBase received complete set of bulletins from the event, but unfortunately very few games are covered by MegaBase. This is why in order to be available at olimpbase.org games have to be rewritten *by hand* from the bulletin (the quality of the print is very poor, impossible to OCR). I have no time to complete this task which is not essential since pure results are available. If you have some idle time and you with to contribute than this is a job for you! Please be careful, this is hardcore task! Some games are virtually impossible to read, other ones are very, very hard. The bulletin is available as PDF
