The PanAmerican continental assembly held in 1999 established a brand tew team competition, The Panamerican U20 Team Championship. It was scheduled to be held every two years, in the odd years (2001, 2003...). Matches were to be played at four boards and the system of play would be, depending on number of participating teams, either round robin or nine round Swiss. See full regulations.

Unfortunately no championship took place until today. We do not know reasons why this happened. Maybe the future will bring better news for this event.
