South American Team Chess Championship

Click to enlargeThe South American team championship took place just once in the history in 1989 in Mar del Plata. Of 12 eligible teams only four appeared while remaining 8 were absent (Paraguay, Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Venezuela, Guyana and Suriname). The four-IM host team won by a small margin ahead of Brazil. Chile came in third.
