There is number of international chess associations recognized by FIDE as officially affiliated organizations. Some of them are just local chess associations but other group specific types chess players, i.e. handicapped or correspondence players. They have separate authorities and enjoy wide range of autonomy while they still are part of FIDE coming under its rules. The title of the section might be a bit misleading as it deals only with tournaments organized by some of FIDE affiliated organizations, namely the correspondence and handicapped chess. Continental, local and youth events are assigned to respective categories. Besides, senior chess information was added here, although there is no Senior Chess Associations and senior chess is developed mainly under patronage of the European Chess Union.
