The 9th Premier League of Bosnia and Herzegovina was held on 5-13th June in the city of Bihac, under management of Chess Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and CA of Una Sana Canton. Nine teams competed in a round robin tournament, while Laus from Banja Luka withdrew before the beginning. The top seeded local Bihac and four-time European champion Bosna were main contenders for the title, with other teams falling far behind in the terms of average elo. Chess Goddess Caissa arranged that two top teams meet each other in the final round, when both earlier won all seven rounds. For another curiosity, best performing players, Artiom Timofeev on first board of Bosna and Zoltán Gyimesi on third for Bihac, both sporting 6/7 that far, were defeated in the crucial match. But Gyimesi will have nothing to regret as his Bihac came out on the top by 4-2 and won the title with perfect 16 match points. Bosna remained second with 14, while the compact team of Glasinac is third with 11. / taken from www.chessdom.com / |
