Tournament review

The overall winners: Poland.Only four teams from three nations took part in this embryonic tournament. Poland were big wigs with average Elo=2197. The surprise draw in the first round for the Brazilian team against Poland showed that numbers alone do not win championships, and Brazilian WFM Paula Delai became the hero of the day defeating Poland's top board Jurkiewicz. On day two the Pole conceded a draw vs Argentinian lady. The Brazilian female team with Paula Delai and Stela Farhat strove on to bring the World Championship trophy, with a remarkable save by Delai against Argentina's WFM Marisa Zuriel on the last day, showing how difficult a tireless and persistent defense can be in even the most winning situations. Brazil edged Poland because of better result at first board.
