Financial constrains with economic transformation in the background forced Polish chess authorities to cancel traditional league system and replace it with the Swiss system, where virtually everybody could participate. There was junior event held on the same place (1. Gedania Gdańsk 2. Legion Warszawa 3. MKS MDK Bydgoszcz 4. Kolejarz Katowice) and points from it counted in the overall table. After six rounds top 8 teams entered knock-out phase. BBTS won the final match v Piast Słupsk to take their sole Polish championship. |
