Tournament review

Following the popularity of the Liverpool student's tournament the International Union of Students in cooperation with The Free University of Brussels organised the student team tournament. It was successful to such an extent that an annual team competition for student teams was settled. The idea was supported by FIDE at the Amsterdam congress in 1954 and FIDE took over official patronage over the Student Olympiads.
