The 2nd all-Polish team tournament took place in Katowice, the capital of autonomous region of Silesia. The Silesian Chess Federation provided with robust financial background, something of primary importance in the times of Worldwide deep economic crisis. More than 60 players representing 10 regions came to the luxurious Savoy Hotel to play six board round robin. The championship received patronage of Poland's highest state authorities. Łódź and Warsaw were two strongest teams and were running shoulder by shoulder all way through. The decisive encounter was a 3-all draw and Warsaw took the cup by a fraction of a point. Best results at top two boards were achieved by two promising, young masters: Antoni Wojciechowski (the one from famous Tylkowski-Wojciechowski twin) and Mieczysław Najdorf, soon one of World's top players. Best percentage result was achieve by Łódź's board #4 Abraham Szpiro - 6½/7. |
